O Dawkins, Oh Dawkins!
By Roddy Bullock, founder of Creation Reformation, and one who prays for Richard Dawkins

Wow!
Richard Dawkins very recently identified as a “cultural Christian.” For those who have read Dawkins—even cursorily—such a declaration lands like a bombshell.
Richard Dawkins? Arch atheist? Cultural Christian? What does it all mean?
Never mind that the term “cultural Christian” may be a meaningless term, possibly an oxymoron. Dawkins’ recent revelation sounds like the utterings of one who may be seeing the dawn of the light of truth.
Can it be?
I write hopefully as one very familiar with Dawkins’ writings. Dawkins was the first modern author I read in an effort to understand evolutionary theory. I have studied and critiqued maybe five or six of his books, in addition to many others by authors of his persuasion. And despite Dawkins’ biting criticism of Christians and Christianity, I always appreciated his honest adherence to evolutionary theory and his unflinching embrace of the raw implications of his chosen creation story.
Dawkins’ writings, and an appreciation of his brutal honesty, were so instrumental in my understanding of evolution and its implications that I dedicated my latest book to him. The dedication page of Without Excuse: Evidence for Creation by God reads:
DEDICATION
To Richard Dawkins
from whom I was first taught Darwinism and
who I hope becomes a creationist in this life
rather than the next.
I made my dedication in all seriousness, not in jest. I was not being sarcastic. I genuinely appreciate Dawkins’ lack of sugar-coating the implications of both naturalistic theory and religious belief. And I genuinely hope that his devotion to a pursuit of truth will lead him to true truth.
I pray often for Richard Dawkins that he might see the error of his faith in naturalistic philosophy, including a belief in natural selection. I pray often that God might pierce his heart with truth and drive him to a crisis of belief. I pray, as my dedication reads, that Richard Dawkins becomes a creationist is this life, and not the next.
Everyone on earth will eventually be a creationist. The only question is when.
Might Richard Dawkins see the truth about his creation? May God’s grace be effective in his mind and heart. May God dramatically enlighten Dawkins’ mind, just as the Saviour Jesus did with another great enemy of Christianity, the apostle Paul. Like Paul, Dawkins’ mind is already filled with all the necessary facts; all that is necessary is a heart-level change in perspective.
May God’s grace extend even to one who has done great damage to many souls: Richard Dawkins.
Amen.

I have studied Dawkins and other evolutionists and atheists as well. I grew up in church and have been a Christian my whole life, but what always struck me about their theories and beliefs is that it takes as much faith (or more) to believe what they believe than it does to believe in God.
I've never understood choosing to vehemently believe in something that renders all of us meaningless when it's just as easy to believe the opposite. Biblically, I understand why it is so. But logically, it makes little sense.
