We often engage evolutionists on our Facebook page. Today we engaged another and thought it may be interesting for our Creation Reformation Insider subscribers to get an inside look at an online discussion. We will update this post as the conversation progresses.
To start, we got a typical comment telling us that evolution is an explanation for observed facts. Here it is:
Evolution, the descent of modern organisms from earlier forms, is a fact, an observation. The Theory of Evolution, like all scientific theories, is an explanation for those facts, those observations. The Theory of Evolution is one of the most well-supported theories in all of science. Branches of science that didn't even exist in Darwin's time, such as Genetics and Biochemistry, have produced discoveries that converge on evolutionary theory.
We responded with a simple fact and simple question. Acknowledging our fact and understanding the only answer to our question should blow evolution (as an explanation for new morphologies, traits, and features in organisms) out of the water. See if you can understand the fact, and the only answer for the question. Here is our reply:
If you are correct, you should be able to easily answer our question below.
Here is one FACT, and one QUESTION for you to consider:
FACT: Every ancestor of every current living thing arrived in nature with inherited traits and features such that it was adapted and fit to survive and reproduce.
QUESTION: What did natural selection do to cause or explain any evolutionary change in any ancestor of any current living thing?
THINK CAREFULLY: We are not asking vaguely "what did evolution do" or "what do mutations do". We are asking very specifically about the evolutionary process of natural selection. What does natural selection do in nature to cause or explain any evolutionary change in adapted and fit organisms?
(The answer illustrates The Natural Selection Paradox. www.naturalselectionparadox.com (We invite rebuttals.))
Give it a shot.
